Our Services
Speech & Language Therapy
Helping children communicate confidently and effectively is at the heart of our Speech and Language Therapy services. We work with children aged 5 to 18 years, addressing a range of communication challenges through tailored, evidence-based interventions.
What is Speech and Language Therapy?
Speech and Language Therapy is a specialised field focused on helping individuals communicate effectively and overcome challenges related to speech, language, and social communication. For children, it involves supporting the development of vital skills such as speaking clearly, understanding and using language, and interacting socially.
Our Approach
We understand that every child is unique, and their communication needs vary. Our approach is focused on:
- Building a strong rapport with the child to create a supportive and engaging environment.
- Collaborating with parents, carers, and educators to gain a holistic understanding of the child’s needs.
- Using a combination of standardised assessments, observations, and input from those who know the child best to guide our therapy process.
What We Offer
Assessments
Our comprehensive assessments identify key areas where the child may need support. We gather information through consultations, case histories, and direct interaction with the child, ensuring a thorough understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.
Diagnosis
We are qualified to diagnose:
- Developmental Language Disorder (DLD): A condition affecting the understanding and use of language.
- Speech Sound Disorder (SSD): Challenges in pronouncing sounds correctly, affecting clarity of speech.
Individualised Therapy Plans
Based on assessment results, we create bespoke therapy plans tailored to the child’s needs. These plans may focus on:
- Expanding vocabulary.
- Improving speech sound articulation for clearer communication.
- Developing receptive (understanding) and expressive (speaking) language skills.
- Supporting social communication and interaction.
Collaboration and Support
We work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure therapy strategies are practical and integrated into the child’s daily life. We also provide advice, resources, and recommendations to empower parents and carers to support their child at home.
